HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 26

Naming the bridge that crosses the Big Sandy River at mile post
0 on Interstate 64 the "Perry and Gentry Memorial Bridge."
Whereas, On July 2, 1997, Kim Perry and Greg Gentry, two
employees of the C. J. Mahan Construction Company and members of
the Laborers' International Union of North America were killed
while demolishing a bridge on Interstate 64 connecting Wayne
County, West Virginia, to Boyd County, Kentucky; and
Whereas, To memorialize these two individuals who lost their
lives in the service of the State, it is fitting to name the
bridge, upon which both lost their lives, in their honor;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the bridge that crosses the Big Sandy River at mile
post 0 on Interstate 64 be named the "Perry and Gentry Memorial
Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the ceremonial service naming the
bridge take place upon completion of the project; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk forward a copy of this resolution to the families of Kim Perry and Greg Gentry, to the
Governor and to the Secretary of the Department of
Transportation.
